I agree, even more than 4 cores on a desktop is barely useable. more than 4 cores is redundant for most things, unless it allows less power consumption as 8 cores at 1GHz would generally consume less than 4 at 2GHz but the issue obviously is that most apps aren't capable of taken advantage of more than 2-4 processing threads let alone 6 or 8

I think 4 cores is all we need in a smartphone, now just like SD make them faster and use less power.

Amd should watch this with they so called 8 core cpus….. 80% of games use 2-4 cores…
